Meskipun situasi dunia masih belum kondusif akibat pandemi virus corona, event tahunan The Game Awards 2020 tetap akan digelar. Mengusung format show virtual tanpa penonton live, The Game Awards 2020 masih akan dipandu oleh sang punggawa Geoff Keighley pada tanggal 10 Desember 2020.

Di tahun ini ada beberapa game menarik yang bersaing untuk meraih titel Game of the Year, sementara beberapa judul game indie menjadi kejutan dan menarik perhatian khalayak gaming.
