Pokemon XY Competition Jakarta was successfully held on 1 December 2013 in fX Plaza Sudirman, make it the biggest gathering and competition in Jakarta!
As previously reported, Duniaku Checkpoint will bring you a tournament for Pokemon X & Y, organized by Kenken Cashern Olstore in association with Psenterprise (also with Kenken’s partner, Conrad). The purpose of this competition is to meet 3DS players’ enthusiasm, especially Pokemon X & Y players and fans in Jakarta.
The players also get many doorprizes at the end of the event. Not stopping at that, partnering with Animonstar and Gamestation, they offered free magazine subscription for the winners of Pokemon XY Competition Jakarta. There will also be goodie bags from Animonstar and Gamestation at the venue. You will also be able to read coverage of this event in both magazines December/January edition.
This Pokemon XY Competition Jakarta becomes the biggest gathering and competition in Jakarta since there are 123 participants attending the competition in fX Plaza Sudirman Atrium F3 Floor, Jl. Jend. Sudirman, Senayan Gate One Jakarta. It becomes merrier since there are more than 150 people attending the gathering. Whoa, such a fantastic number!
The event was started on 10.00 and was very fun. All 123 participants fights with all their might to get the prize, 5 million rupiahs in total where there will be one million rupiahs and other merchandises such as Pokemon X & Y T-Shirt, 3DS game cartridge (Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate), 3DS bag and 3DS case protector (which, undoubtedly, Pokemon-themed).
After more than 8 hours of Pokemon fight, the organizer finally announced 3 gamers as the winner on 18.30. Dion was named as the third winner, Adhitya Bayu as the second, and the first winner is Arvin Dito from Bandar Lampung. When asked how he felt about being the champion and winning the first prize, this 19 year-old guy currently studied Electrical Engineering at ITERA, Bandung said that he was very happy and surprised that he can win the competition.

“Who wouldn’t be surprised? I knew about the event 2 weeks prior to the D-day through a Pokemon X & Y Indonesia group link sent to my Facebook profile page. Also I learned on the event’s D-1 that the Pokemon team I planned cannot be used in the competition. This means I have to plan a new team, finished it this dawn and thankfully it wasn’t in vain.” When asked about his opinion on this competition, this Kingdom Hearts fan said that the event organizer should held this kind of event more often so there can be a place for Pokemon gamers to socialize.

Ken Cashernn as the event organizer said that the Pokemon XY Jakarta Competition this time is more fun and merrier than the previous one. He said the reason he organized the event was due to the enthusiasm toward the game and the hype around it is huge among Indonesian gamers. “There are still so many Pokemon series fans in Indonesia and they were really enthusiastic towards anything Pokemon. To satisfy them we spend more than one month and a half to prepare for this event optimally and I think this competition is THE BIGGEST ONE.” he said.
Kenken also reveals several interesting stuff he spotted during the competition. The first one is that the youngest participant in Pokemon XY Jakarta Competition is merely 9 years-old and he successfully advancing up to being block winner! Too bad he didn’t make it past Top 8. This participant, named Geraldy, is probably one of the best Pokemon Trainers during the competition. The second one is that there are so many participants that were accompanied by their family or girlfriend, which can be seen as a support for them to participate in the competition.

The third one is the number of participants and players attending the competition are exceeding 150 people at the same time. They either participating or simply doing StreetPass, and this figure is a-mazing! Unfortunately, the number of tags for the day is still less than 100. The fourth one is that Kenken salutes the organizing team that skipped lunch to ensure the event runs smoothly. He mainly thanked Abe Mitsuteru, Aichiya Sanae, @cessa, Conrad Jiwandono, and Santoso Kurniawan. He also thanked Duniaku.net, Duniaku Checkpoint, especially Dipta Erlangga, who helped him a lot in making the competition comes true.
Last but not least, he’s really pumped during the battle, especially during Geraldy’s battle and the final. He felt happy and proud for being able to blend in with Pokemon XY Jakarta Competition participants, thinking them as close friends. Being around them is such a great experience for Kenken.

We asked him whether he will organize similar event in the future and he answered, “After this event, we’ll cool down a bit. Let’s see how it would be in the future.” The participants’ response towards this event is very positive since it’s the first game competition in Jakarta that is successfully huge. The ups and downs? Kenken said that he and the organizer team are really proud for being able to hold such huge event. Too bad the time is limited since the whole schedule is fully allocated for the competition.

Kenken Cashernn Olstore and the rest of the organizing team sincerely thank the participants and the attendants of Pokemon XY Jakarta Competition. Without them, the event won’t be as huge and meaningful. True to Kenken’s motto, an event held by gamers for gamers. Hopefully Kenken can organize another event – bigger and merrier of course – in the future!
