Ada dua game yang terbilang sukses dan menyabet banyak piala dari berbagai kategori, seperti contohnya The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild yang memenangkan kategori Game of The Year, Best Game Direction, dan Best Action/Adventure Game.
Selain The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, ada juga game kontoversial dan ramai dimainkan di tahun ini karena keunikan dan juga kesulitan dalam memainkannya, yaitu Cuphead. Game ini telah memenangkan beberapa kategori, seperti Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game, dan Best Art Direction.
Dalam kategori Best Esport, Dota 2 sayangnya harus menerima kekalahan dari game Overwatch yang saat ini memang sedang digandrungi dan ramai dimainkan oleh banyak orang.
Game Super Mario Odyssey yang mendominasi banyak kategori dan nominasi, justru hanya menang dalam satu kategori, yaitu Best Family Game, sedangkan game Mario yang lain, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle menang dalam kategori Best Strategy Game.
Kategori Best Multiplayer Game belum diumumkan, sehingga belum diketahui apakah pemenangnya game Fortnite, Call of Duty: World War II, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Destiny 2, atau PUBG. Bagi penulis, ada kemungkinan besar PUBG yang menang.
