Entah apa yang terjadi waktu itu hingga 20th Century Fox menghentikan Fantastic Four hanya sampai film kedua saja (Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer) di tahun 2007. Padahal, menurut saya dua film ini cukup sukses dipasaran, sekalipun Jessica Alba tampil tidak secantik film yang pertama. Vakum yang terlalu lama juga akhirnya membuat Chris Evans (Johnny Storm/Human Torch) alih profesi sebagai Captain America. Dan pastinya Evans tak akan dengan mudah melepas itu apalagi Marvel telah mengontraknya untuk Captain America 2 (2014) dan The Avengers 2 (2015). Jadi, keputusan reboot memang satu-satunya pilihan yang tepat untuk film ini. Tom Rothman selaku presiden 20th Century Fox mengatakan bahwa ingin menggandeng sutradara Chronicle, Josh Trank untuk menggarap Fantastic Four reboot.
"I'm hopeful. I think Josh is going to come on to Fantastic Four and develop that."
